NeeNee

I miss my grandmother a lot. She was in one word- amazing. I often wish she was here to bounce an idea off, share a funny story with, or just hang out with. Yeah, I miss her a lot.

skating too much to blog?

Not really, just not keeping up very well. I have been skating some. Not nearly enough. Skate on.

Mother's Day

Yesterday was mother's day and I didn't get to skate. Where is the justice in that?

In honor of...

I've been skating quite a bit despite the snow and cold. While indoor skateparks are not my fav they work in a pinch. Now the weather is warming up so I can go out to the local parks here in Denver and adapt all my skatelite learning to concrete. Unfortunately, one thing I will now be doing more of is "kick, push" due to the loss of a great skate buddy named Max. Max was my 'tow dog'. He was a boxer that loved nothing more than to get a leash on and pull me and my longboard around the park full speed ahead. While he had never been on a board and I think maybe only at the actual skate park once or twice he really was one of the best skate buddies. Of course, I miss him for many more reasons than our runs around the park, but I'm particularly going to miss him when I pull out the longboard. Anyway, I just wanted to recognize him here, because he was a lot of fun to skate with.

Happy New Year

It's been colder than a witch's tit and there is NO outdoor skating with all the snow and ice. So, we've been hitting Woodward. I finally, FINALLY have my backside kick turn down on the 1/2 pipe! WooT! Now I'm almost ready for killing the bowls.

Skate park ideology

I feel sort of silly and mom-like for thinking there should be some rules for the skatepark, but I do. Here is what I'm teaching my kids.

*If you aren’t having fun then it’s time to go home.
*Always wear your protective gear.
*Make eye contact with those around the bowl before you drop in.
*Take turns, and don’t over step your turn.
*Always bring your gear including:
Skateboard
Pads
Helmet
Ice water
Antiseptic of some sort
Skateboard tool
Cell phone
Broom
Towel
*Be kind. We all were beginners at some point so be mindful to people who are new. They are taking a step out of their element and that is brave.

*Don’t trash the park.

New haps

I haven't skateboarded much in the last couple weeks. I miss it. This weekend I will be on my board. I will!!

In the meantime I've been busy trying to help my son out with some of his stuff. He is now in middle school and they are trying to get a skateboard club together. So, being the good skateboard mom that I am I volunteered to be the parent sponsor. Fun times. Now my daughter wants me to sponsor the skateboard club at her elementary school! haha!! I hope I can do both. Also, my son's birthday is coming up so you can imagine how much board stuff he wants. Glad I have my skater girl friendly list. WooT!

I did buy my b/f a new board and some new bushings. He needed them and the guy at our local shop laughed when he saw the bushings. Yeah, they were that bad!

So, yeah, I'll be up super early on Saturday to get out and board before I have to do more "stuff." I need to clear my head with some good carves.
